A method and apparatus are described for recovering gold from aqueous slurries of refractory gold ores containing sulfidic and/or carbonaceous matter. The method entails pretreating an ore slurry with chlorine in a multi-compartment autoclave operated at an elevated pressure. The chlorine used in this pressure chlorination pretreatment can be in either the gaseous or liquid state.

(TSX-V: AGD) today announced the results of the preliminary metallurgical assessment completed on the gold bearing rocks on its flagship property as well as Acid Based Accounting (ABA) tests, the Cisneros Project located in Antioquia, Colombia. The various recovery methods tested indicate that gold recoveries in excess of …
More DetailsCyanide leaching has been applied to separate gold from ore for over 120 years. Gold ores can be classified as free milling, complex, or refractory based on gold recovery achievable by direct cyanidation. 1) High gold recoveries from free-milling gold can easily be obtained by conventional cyanide leaching. 2) Refractory gold ores have the low gold extractions by the cyanidation and are ...
More Detailsused to extract gold from low-grade ore deposits; crushed ore is placed on pads that have bottoms of asphalt or impervious plastic sheets, a solution of dilute cyanide is sprayed on the ore, the cyanide percolates down through the ore for several weeks to months and leeches out the gold, now a solution, the gold drains off the pad, the gold is pumped to a recovery plant where the gold is ...

As part of that, Year 10 and Year 11 pupils need to know the methods used to extract unreactive metals from ores (for example, smelting). This valuable quiz, created for AQA''s Syllabus A, will help you revise.
More Details· Gold Shutterstock. Extracting gold from ore is a poisonous business. The most common method is cyanide leaching, where cyanide salts in solution are used to suck the gold out from its ore.
More Detailstechnology and its ancillary systems, it has now become possible to recover fine grained sulphide minerals from complex ore deposits, whose processing was earlier considered un-economical. Today, about 400 million tonnes of sulphide ore is treated annually by flotation process worldwide. M/s Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (HZL), a leading lead-zinc mining and
More DetailsIn one, the ground ore is put into a tank containing a weak cyanide solution and zinc is added. The zinc causes a chemical reaction which separates the gold from the ore. The gold is then removed from the solution with a filter press. For the carbon-in-pulp method, the ground ore …
More DetailsThe two gold refining methods most commonly employed to derive pure gold are: the Miller process and the Wohlwill process. The Miller process uses gaseous chlorine to extract impurities when gold is at melting point; impurities separate into a layer on the surface of the molten purified gold. The Miller process is rapid and simple, but it ...
More Detailsgold ores of low silver grade (0.3 Ag g/t), thiosulfate leaching resulted low gold and silver extraction compared to cyanidation. However, in the case of gold ores with higher silver grades (2.8-15 Ag g/t), silver extraction with ammoniacal thiosulfate increased with increasing silver content. Although gold extraction also increased with
More DetailsGold and silver metals are obtained from a variety of different types of rock ores. Most people think of gold nuggets and such as the source of gold, but the truth is that very little of the new gold produced comes from nuggets - nearly all newly mined gold comes from ores mined from the natural hard rocks that contain gold in tiny, even ...
More DetailsThis page looks at the various factors which influence the choice of method for extracting metals from their ores, including reduction by carbon, reduction by a reactive metal (like sodium or magnesium), and by electrolysis. Details for the extraction of aluminium, copper, iron and titanium are given in separate pages in this section.
More DetailsThe Different Fossil Fuels. Though different terms are occasionally used that are interchangeable for each, there are three primary varieties for fossil fuels. These are coal, oil, and natural gas. Coal. Of the three types of fossil fuels, coal is the only one still in a solid state. It appears as chunks of midnight black rock, which are ...

More Details· 1. Introduction. The governing method for gold ore processing has been cyanide leaching since the late 19th century (Marsden and House, 2006).After decades of active development of the process for various types of ores and concentrates, there are several different hydrometallurgical flowsheets for cyanide leaching.
More Details· This means that they are uncombined with other elements, for example, silver and gold.To extract ores containing minerals, a chemical reaction must be used to separate the metal from other elements. The choice of the best method for extraction of a metal from its ore depends on the chemical reactivity of the metal to be extracted.
More DetailsThe mining district of Austin, in central Nevada was well known for its silver ores, but this specimen of oxidized ore also contains a considerable amount of gold in addition to the silver. It shows few sulfide minerals because it is well oxidized.
More Details· The method utilized is called the Parkes process, where the silver is removed from lead and some other types of metal through a liquid-to-liquid extraction procedure. Silver can also be extracted from copper and zinc through a similar process in which the silver is purified by a nitrate solution. Another source of silver is refined from gold mines.
